Highlights from Canada Gives Annual Impact Report 2024
At Canada Gives, we’re honoured to share another year of remarkable innovation and thoughtful philanthropy on the part of our Foundation families. Their generosity and care for their communities and those most in need is truly inspiring. Our Annual Impact Report 2024 shines a light on their profound impact, our evolving infrastructure and inspiring stories of legacy planning.
Our organization continues to flourish as donor clients—working in close collaboration with their trusted advisors—make commitments to giving that bridge generations. This report celebrates how these donor clients continue to advance Canadian values and foster community through strategic philanthropy. And what a year this has been.
Canada Gives’ total donation revenue for 2024 totaled an impressive $58,045,306, while restricted Foundation account assets reached $331,771,470, up from $284,967,272 the year prior. Most notably, charitable grants disbursed in 2024 increased to $35,336,232, an increase of 75 per cent from the prior year’s grants of $20,981,219. That increases the total grants disbursed by Canada Gives DAF donors since inception to $152.6 million. Our average annual grant amount is now $19,620, with the average Foundation account size topping $1 million. Even our total number of Donor Advised Funds (aka “Foundation accounts”) surged to 328 last year from 286 in 2023.
These figures reflect not just financial strength, but deep trust and dedication on the part of Foundation families who partner with Canada Gives to create meaningful and lasting change.
Investing in digital infrastructure and client services
This year’s Annual Impact Report outlines the significant enhancements we made in 2024 to better serve our Foundation families. They include upgrades to our Donor Portal, including tools to help donor clients and their advisors plan and manage the longevity of Foundation accounts with clarity.
We also strengthened our team by welcoming key new personnel:
-
- Chris Cote as Director of IT and Operations
- Fatima Oliveira as Finance Clerk
- Tiffany Gallagher as our first full-time Gift Planning Associate
These additions highlight our commitment to client service and operational stewardship.
Innovation
Recently, Delaney Morris—our Manager of IT, Communications and Process Excellence—implemented a new online application system for BCCB powered by Typeform. Delaney’s outstanding work earned our organization the 2024 Changemaker of the Year award from Typeform—an acknowledgment of how design and technology can elevate philanthropy.
The new Philanthropic Plan Report
Looking ahead to fall 2025, this next-level planning tool is designed to help our well-established Foundation families reflect, refine and amplify their philanthropy.
Donor Stories: Fiduciary safekeeping and purposeful philanthropy
Our Donor Stories section captures how Canada Gives works with philanthropists and their financial advisors to craft lasting legacies. This is one of the most popular sections of our Annual Impact Reports, and it’s clear why. Philanthropists are always interested in learning how other charitable Canadians are using creativity and effective planning to make a difference.

Their legacy, our commitment
This report reaffirms what we know: our Foundation families’ generosity is transformative when strategically planned to provide impact for both the recipient charities and the families funding their programs.
We remain committed to strengthening our DAF donors’ philanthropic experience, honouring their values and equipping them and their advisors with tools and not-for-profit sector expertise. As always, our Client Services team is here to support their journey. We look forward to another year of giving success—building a stronger Canada, together.
